Obesity Prevention
Over 32% of adults in Maine have obesity, which is determined by a body mass index greater than or equal to 30 based on self-reported weight and height. Diet quality and activity level impact the risk of developing obesity. In the U.S. fewer than 1 in 10 children and adults eat the recommended amount of vegetables and fewer than 1 in 4 adults fully meet physical activity guidelines. Adults with obesity are more at risk of developing many diseases.
