Heart disease is the number one cause of death and disability in the United States.
Cardiovascular Diseases (CVDs) are a broad group of conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels. This includes heart disease, stroke, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation. Common types of heart disease include coronary artery disease (CAD) and peripheral artery disease (PAD).

Risk Factors
High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. About half of people in the United States (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors. Several other medical conditions and lifestyle choices can also put people at a higher risk for heart disease, including
- Diabetes
- Overweight and Obesity
- Unhealthy diet
- Physical inactivity
- Excessive alcohol use
